Nick works across electronic and acoustic music in live, studio and installation contexts. Pieces have been performed by leading musicians in concert halls worldwide, diffused over spatial sound systems, installed in galleries and museums and heard in scene and on screen. His primary instrument is a modular synthesizer system which he also plays live. He lives and works in Berlin.

Auguries (2024-)

modular synthesizer and computer (live performance)

Auguries is an ongoing series of pieces utilising the modular synthesizer as the principle tool for production and performance.

Auguries, or taking the auspices, are a historical predictive method- a means of divining possible futures and comprehending past events, from wild environmental, bodily or animal behaviours.

Comparably, this series will weave through chaotic electrical states in an attempt to find direction, and to discover hidden flows.

Die Erde über mir (2023-24)

Music Theatre w/ Münchner Kammerorchester + Anselm Dalferth (string quartet, electric guitar, percussion, string orchestra, actors, electronics)

Die Erbe über mir is a staged piece of music theatre for the Münchner Kammerorchester that evokes the ritualised context of the funeral mass. I have composed a set of electroacoustic pieces grounded in an exploration of distortion processes, musicalised field recording and lamenting ‘found’ voices, to be wrapped around Mozart’s Requiem.
